Moody Health Center

Interns The Interns in the Moody Health Center are guided, monitored and evaluated in examination, diagnoses and treatment procedures. The student is expected to continue the development of skills necessary for total patient management including consultation, report of findings, physical diagnosis, neurological and orthopedic diagnosis, clinical laboratory diagnosis, adjusting technique, application of adjunctive therapy and/or interprofessional co-management as indicated.

Clinic Internship begins in the seventh trimester and continues through the 10th trimester.

Campus Health Center

Students begin their clinic experience in trimester seven with the Campus Health Center, where they are guided, monitored and evaluated in examination, diagnosis and treatment procedures appropriate to the portal of entry health care practice of chiropractic.

Moody Health Center

The Texas Chiropractic College clinic system provides the student doctor the opportunity to develop the skills and attitudes necessary for competent chiropractic practice. This is accomplished through experiential learning from patient care and interaction with experienced clinical faculty.

The Moody Health Center sees hundreds of patients a day that are treated by our senior interns. Students enter Moody Health Center in the eighth trimester after completion of all courses in the first seven trimesters of the curriculum in good academic standing and successfully completing the Campus Health Center. The student must also complete the Clinical Competencies Performance Evaluation.

To insure appropriate levels of clinical competency are met, certain benchmarks have been established. Each intern will be required to demonstrate his or her own level of competency during the Clinical Skills Competency Evaluation (CSCE) at the end of the ninth (9th) trimester. Also, an intern will be evaluated on a periodic basis by clinic faculty during patient encounters. A minimum threshold of procedures has also been established by the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) and Texas Chiropractic College to insure minimum levels of clinical experience.

Description of the minimum quantitative clinical requirements necessary for successful completion of the clinic program is available in the Outpatient Clinic Requirements section. Also, upon completion of adjustments, examinations, integrated case reviews, laboratory interpretations, passive / active therapies and x-ray interpretations, an intern will be required to participate in one of the post requirement programs.
