Description:

This course introduces important concepts of microbiology, including classification, structure and growth of microorganisms.  Microbial genetics covers the mechanisms of replication, transcription and translation and encompasses methods used in biotechnology.  The course surveys physical, chemical and chemotherapeutic methods to control the growth of microorganisms.  Laboratory portion of the course is designed to acquaint the students with the basic techniques of microbiology.

PREREQUISITE: Human Biochemistry
