Program allows a small group of students in all trimesters the oppor-tunity to visit alumni clinics; speak with field doctors and their staffs in a relaxed, casual atmosphere and find out what works in the “real world.” By visiting local clinics, students can see how a clinic is set up, ask questions about office billing, advertising, hiring employees, or other related topics and begin to envision what their future will be like.
They also ask the doctors about their expertise, practice management, patient retention, or business management. We have found that alumni are eager to help and want to participate in our programs. Since July, 2011 we now over 120 Mentors and 52 Ambassadors throughout the US. Our programs help us keep a good relationship with our alumni and it keeps them close to the college. Also, students need to establish relationships with our alumni prior to graduation so they have a good support base group. We hope it will continue to grow in years to come.
