TCC Names Dr. Brad McKechnie President

PASADENA, Texas – The Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) Board of Regents has named Brad McKechnie, DC, DACAN as the institution’s 14th president, after serving as the interim president since April 2014.

An honor graduate of TCC in 1985, Dr. McKechnie returned to his alma mater as an assistant professor in the department of clinical sciences. He also twice served as a dean during his tenure, managing postgraduate education and later overseeing external affairs for the college. In 2009, Dr. McKechnie was named to the TCC Board of Regents and he served on the Board’s Academic Affairs Committee, Postgraduate Committee, and the Finance Committee.

TCC Expands Principles Curriculum to First Seven Trimesters

PASADENA, Texas – This past September, Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) embarked on a groundbreaking curriculum expansion in its mission to promote excellence in the education of practice-ready doctors of chiropractic. The revised Chiropractic Principles curriculum establishes a solid foundation for the chiropractic profession by helping TCC students grow into expert practitioners of chiropractic science.

President Brad McKechnie, DC, DACAN challenged the faculty to develop a unique chiropractic principles course for each of the first seven trimesters of a student’s academic career at TCC.

TCC Names Dr. Stephen A. Foster As Provost

PASADENA, Texas – Brad McKechnie, DC, DACAN, president of Texas Chiropractic College (TCC), is pleased to announce the promotion of Stephen A. Foster, DC, FICC to the position of provost, effective December 8, 2014.

According to Dr. McKechnie, “Dr. Foster’s responsibilities as provost include coordinating TCC’s academic programming, infrastructure and budgetary matters with the president’s office. Dr. Foster will work methodically to administer the resources, training and services that students, faculty and staff need to promote excellence in the education of doctors of chiropractic.”

Dr. Cassie Stinson Accepts Invitation as Attending Clinician at Moody Health Center

PASADENA, Texas – Cassie Stinson, DC, CCSP has accepted an invitation from Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) president, Brad McKechnie, DC, DACAN to join the full-time faculty as an attending clinician at the Moody Health Center (MHC).

“We are pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Stinson,” Dr. McKechnie said. “Her clinical experience and business acumen are tremendous benefits for TCC interns preparing to graduate as practice-ready doctors of chiropractic.”

TCC’s Moody Health Center Partners With San Jacinto College Massage Therapy Program

UPDATE (1/24/13): SJC Massage Therapy will be back at MHC for the spring term, beginning Jan. 29 and tentatively running through April.

PASADENA, Texas – Texas Chiropractic College’s Moody Health Center (MHC) is excited to announce a new partnership with San Jacinto College’s Massage Therapy Program (MTP), which provides clinical and office space in the MHC for qualified MTP students participating in the required internship.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Texas Chiropractic College and the Moody Health Center to provide even more quality health care options for the surrounding community while continuing to strengthen our partnership with San Jacinto College,” said Dr. Barry Wiese, TCC Dean of Clinics. “We are looking forward to growing this partnership and the opportunities it provides for our chiropractic interns to interact with the massage therapy interns. Together, they will better learn how to partner as professionals to provide integrative care for their patients.”

The Moody Health Center is an outpatient care facility and represents the culmination of the accredited Doctor of Chiropractic Program at Texas Chiropractic College. Student interns, working closely with licensed attending clinicians, treat patients from the general public with complementary therapies.

San Jacinto College’s massage therapy program is an accredited program of therapeutic massage training. Graduates can complete the requirements for licensure in as little as two semesters and can be licensed and working in less than one year. As a part of the program, students will complete a 50-hour hands-on internship required by the state of Texas.

“Beginning Fall 2012, San Jacinto College students enrolled in the supervised clinical Massage Therapy Internship program will have the opportunity to work alongside Texas Chiropractic College students at the Moody Health Center, a professional outpatient care facility located on TCC’s campus in Pasadena, Texas” noted Dr. Barbara M. Hanson, Vice President for Learning at San Jacinto College-Central. “The Massage Therapy Internship program is a close approximation of the actual workplace experience of a licensed massage therapist. The opportunities provided by our educational partnership benefit our students and our community.”

The Moody Health Center is located at 5917 Spencer Highway in Pasadena, Texas, and is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. The MHC may be contacted at 281-487-1501 or MoodyHealth@txchiro.edu.
