Acupuncture

One of the oldest forms of healing treatments in the world, acupuncture is a practice that has been growing in use and popularity in the U.S. in recent years.

At Texas Chiropractic College’s Moody Health Center, acupuncture services are offered as a sole method of treatment or may be provided as an addition to the chiropractic adjustment.

The main concept of acupuncture is that good health entails having balance and harmony of energy and function between the systems of the body. Acupuncture involves the stimulation of various points on the body to achieve a balance of energies or to restore homeostasis in the body. There are 361 known points on the body and 200 points on the ear that can be stimulated. This stimulation is usually done with very fine acupuncture needles, sometimes in conjunction with electrical stimulation, but it can also be done without needles.

With a proper balance of energies, a state of good health will exist.
