ARRS GoldMiner
ARRS (American Roentgen Ray Society) GoldMiner provides instant access to 240,897 radiological images published in 262 selected peer-reviewed journals. You can search by findings, anatomy, imaging technique, and patient age and sex.

AuntMinnie.com

Aunt Minnie is an online community for people interested in radiology. Access requires free registration. There are discussion forums to exchange information or seek advice, as well as the latest radiology news, case examples, career information, and e-reference books.

Bandolier
Bandolier collects good quality evidence under a variety of different headings. It searches for systematic reviews of treatments, of evidence about diagnosis, epidemiology or health economics, and abstracts it.

CAMbase
CAMbase is a virtual search engine that enables the user to easily find relevant literature of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in different resources.

CAM in UME Digital Depository
The CAM in UME Digital Resource Repository (DRR) contains curriculum materials to support the teaching of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) topics in Canadian undergraduate medical education (UME) programs.

CAM Index Created by the University of Maryland Medical Center, the CAM Index is searchable by a browse feature. Subjects may be found by treatment, depletions, conditions, drugs, herbs, and supplements. Information is written at a consumer level and references are provided.

CHORUS (Collaborative Hypertext of Radiology)
CHORUS is a "quick reference" hypertext for physicians and medical students. More than 1,100 documents describe diseases, radiological findings, differential-diagnosis lists ("gamuts"), and pertinent anatomy, pathology and physiology. CHORUS documents are indexed topically by organ system and alphabetically by title. Documents are interconnected by a network of more than 2,200 hyperlinks.

CINAHL
The Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, is the most comprehensive resource for nursing and allied health literature. This is an EBSCOhost Resource.

Citing Medicine [ebook]
Provides assistance to authors in compiling lists of references for their publications, to editors in revising such lists, to publishers in setting reference standards for their authors and editors, and to librarians and others in formatting bibliographic citations.

Cochrane Library
The Cochrane Library is a unique source of reliable and up-to-date information on the effects of intervention in health care. Published on a quarterly basis, the Cochrane library is designed to provide information and evidence to support decisions taken in health care and to inform those receiving care. The Cochrane Library consists of a regularly updated collection of evidence-based medicine databases.

Cochrane's DARE Library
This alternative version of the DARE Cochrane database has more content than the version that is available through the traditional Cochrane website.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research

This free database is one of several "Life Science Portals" from ICMG, a media & publishing company geared toward professional scientists. It offers a quick link to recent CAM literature, including advance publications that may appear nowhere else. Just click on the Articles button at the top of the page.

DailyMed provides high quality information about marketed drugs. This information includes FDA approved labels (package inserts). This Web site provides a standard, comprehensive, up-to-date, look-up and download resource of medication content and labeling as found in medication package inserts.

Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD)
Offers information about label ingredients in more than 6,000 selected brands of dietary supplements. It enables users to compare label ingredients in different brands. Information is also provided on the "structure/function" claims made by manufacturers.

Directory of Health Organizations
A directory of health organizations and other biomedical resources.

DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals)
There are now 6724 free journals in the directory, and they are always adding to the list.

Dynamed
A clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care'. With clinically-organized summaries for more than 3,200 topics.

Ebsco eBook Collection
Contains a large number of ebooks on many subjects including medicine.

eMedTV
EMedTV has videos and articles on health topics geared towards the consumer. As the name suggests, the site specializes in videos.

ERIC (Education Resources Information Center)
Used primarily to find articles in education literature.

Evidence Australia
A search engine that indexes only evidence-based medical information for Australia.

Familydoctor.org
This is a consumer-based website with information for the patient. It is very easy to navigate.

Free Medical Journals
Lists over 400 medical journals, books and podcasts with free access over the Internet.

Geneva Foundation of Free Medical Journals
Categorizes journals by topic and their free/pay status. It does not let users look up specific articles, but links to publisher's websites where articles or citations may be found.

Google Scholar
Google Scholar can be a beneficial resource for finding scholarly medical research. Many of its entries link to PubMed, but it also indexes less than reputable resources as well. Use it, but use it with caution.

HEAL
HEAL (Health Education Assests Library) is a digital repository that allows medical educators to discover, download, and re-use over 22,000 medical education resources.

Healthfinder.gov
Healthfinder contains a small, online medical reference library and a collection of selected health topics organized for men and women, by age from kids to seniors, by race and ethnicity, for parents, caregivers, and health professionals. The site also features information about doctors, dentists, public clinics, and hospitals.

Highwire Press Free Full-Text Articles
Largest archives of free full-text science journals. The list is easy to navigate.

Histology
This site was created as a supplement to a basic histology course. It explores microanatomy and the many links between form and function at the microscopic level.

HubMed
Users may track and download PubMed citations. Citations may be downloaded in RIS, and BIb Text formats for Endnote, ProCite, or RefManager.

IN-CAM
Canadian Interdisciplinary Network for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research. This resource includes practical and accessible information on outcome measures within a framework of domains that are important to CAM researchers.

Index to Chiropractic Literature
This chiropractic only database searches approximately 40 journals, many of which are peer-reviewed and most of which are owned by the TCC library.

From the Houston Medical Center, a very useful collection of resources designed to help physicians and patients decide how best to integrate CAM therapies into their care.

MedicalStudent.com
A digital library of authoritative medical information for the medical student and all students of medicine. Resources include interactive anatomy tutorials to x-ray reviews.

Medical Terminology
This is a complete and self-contained course in modern medical terminology. It is suitable for all students of the health occupations who will have a need to communicate with physicians, dentists, and other medical professionals.

MediLexicon
This database carries a "medical dictionary, pharmaceutical company search, hospitals, medical abbreviations and associations" as well as other information.

MedlinePlus
MedlinePlus should be one of the first places a patient looks for information on his/her condition. Information is given in several languages.

Medscape
A free, integrated site for health professionals. Robust and very useful.

Merck Manuals Online
These are online versions of Merck Manuals. They give quick and easy access to medical information.

Natural Standard
This resource contains information on alternative medicine with an emphasis on herbs, supplements and alternative therapies. It includes detailed data on specific conditions and diseases, as well as interactions, symptom checkers, calculators and genetic information.

Omni Medical Search
Search several health related search engines at one time. There is a separate search function for images that lets you search more than 140,000 images from 100 different websites.
