Financial aid at Texas Chiropractic College is based on the philosophy that students have the primary responsibility to pay for their education, to the extent that they are able. Financial aid is a supplement to their resources; it is not meant to be the sole source of income or financing to students, nor is it meant to be an inducement for enrollment. It is meant to minimize financial barriers to a professional career in chiropractic, and to enable students to reach their educational goals.
The primary mission of the Financial Aid Office is to serve as a resource for students choosing to improve life through education. The FAO is committed to providing financial assistance to students who would otherwise be unable to pursue their educational goal. Our employees will be student focused and our office environment will be distinguished by providing efficient and effective service. In all areas of our fund distribution, we shall be fair and honest. While the principal responsibility of financing an education rests with the student, there are programs to help cover the costs. Our employees will guide students through the complexities of forms, academic progress monitoring, and debt management skills. The competent and trained staff, functioning within a fully effective environment, is a vital component of Texas Chiropractic College's overall mission.
Students and families should note that staff members working in the Office of Financial Aid at Texas Chiropractic College have not been implicated in any of the current investigations into practices in the student loan industry.
No staff members serve on any lender advisory boards.
Staff members in the Office of Financial Aid have always been bound to act in compliance with the vision outlined in our Mission Statement and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators Statement of Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct for Institutional Financial Aid Professionals

No staff member shall accept any gift from a representative of a student loan provider. Gifts include meals, travel, lodging, entertainment, and in-kind services (such as printing customized consumer information for borrowers with the logo of the school). Staff can participate in meals, refreshments, and receptions in conjunction with meetings, trainings, or conference events open to all attendees.
Staff members are free to pursue part-time employment outside of their scheduled work day. However, any staff member who is approached by a lender with an offer for supplemental employment will provide full written details to his/her supervisor. Staff members cannot accept supplemental employment with lenders that creates any potential conflict of interest with the operations of the Office of Financial Aid.
Staff members shall not accept any remuneration or expense-reimbursement for serving as a member of the advisory board of a lender. Staff may participate on advisory boards that are unrelated in any way to higher education loans.
Texas Chiropractic College does not currently require staff to complete and submit financial disclosure forms as a condition of employment. All staff members in the Office of Financial Aid will disclose to his or her immediate supervisor if an assigned task could create a perceived or real conflict of interest in the eyes of the public.
Staff members who knowingly fail to follow these guidelines will be subject to normal disciplinary guidelines.
To protect privacy, all records and conversations between you, your family and the Financial Aid Office staff are confidential. No public announcement shall be made of need-based amounts awarded to you. No information concerning your financial aid record will be released to anyone outside the Financial Aid Office without your permission, in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act. Nor will the Financial Aid Office discuss confidential information over the telephone or via e-mail. If you have questions about financial aid, please contact the Financial Aid Office.
