Mae Hilty Memorial Library

Library Mission Statement

Students in LibraryThe TCC Library exists to support the scholarship of students and faculty at TCC and to assist in providing information to the chiropractic community at large.  Toward this aim, the Library offers a variety of services to its patrons, and collects books, journals and audiovisual materials in the disciplines of chiropractic, basic science, medicine and clinical techniques.  The Library also provides facilities for group and individual study, computer use, microscopy and photocopying.

A Brief History

The library began in 1953 with a fund set up by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Texas Chiropractic Association.  Their purpose was to honor the dream of Mae Fivecoat Hilty, a chiropractor’s wife who gave her life saving a nephew from drowning.  With Mae Hilty as an inspiration, the library has continued to develop and grow.  In 1982, it moved to its present location in the Learning Resource Center.  It now houses over 10,000 volumes of books, 1000 audiovisual titles and 170 periodical subscriptions.
