Dr. Lawson Howard Receives William D. Harper Award at TCC’s 2024 Convention
Dr. Lawson Howard, a Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) alumnus and supporter, was awarded the William D. Harper Award, the college’s most prestigious award, at TCC’s annual chiropractic convention in Galveston, TX, on Friday, July 26, 2024. The award was presented by Dr. Stephen Foster, former president of TCC and last year’s award recipient.
“This award is a tremendous honor and serves as a motivation to continue my efforts in supporting TCC and advancing the field of chiropractic,” said Dr. Lawson. “I am grateful to the board and the entire TCC community for this acknowledgment.”
Since graduating with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, Dr. Howard has been a dedicated supporter of the college, generously offering his time and expertise to mentor students and foster their growth. Additionally, he has been a TCC board member for six years, recently having his term renewed for another two years. His leadership and support for chiropractic extends beyond TCC, having also served in a leadership role for the Texas Chiropractic Association District 11.
“Dr. Howard’s dedication to our college and his community exemplifies the spirit of the William D. Harper Award,” said current TCC President Sandra Hughes. “His contributions have made a lasting impact and there is no one more deserving of this award.”
The William D. Harper Award, named after Dr. William D. Harper, Jr., a pioneer in the field of chiropractic, member of the TCC faculty for 15 years, and TCC president from 1965 to 1976, honors individuals who exemplify dedication to the college and embrace the role of science in chiropractic care. Each year, the college board members vote on the recipient, who is then presented to the current recipient by the previous year’s recipient.
