Dear TCC Community,

This time of year is one of my favorites as we start a new academic year and welcome new and returning students to campus. September, as you will see, was a busy and exciting month on campus.

First Friday

We kicked things off with our First Friday event, where students, faculty, and staff gathered together to enjoy food and games. I hope you all had a great time. I certainly enjoyed meeting with a few of you.

Constitution Day

On September 17, we recognized Constitution Day with conversations that reflected on the foundation of our nation’s democracy. The Office of Student Services added a sweet touch by providing delicious cupcakes for everyone to enjoy.

Chiropractic Founders Day

On September 18, 1895, Dr. Daniel David Palmer delivered the very first chiropractic adjustment. September 18 honors the vision that would be set forth after that first adjustment. It is inspiring to see how far chiropractic care has come, and I am excited to see how much further it will go.

TCA District 11 Leadership Visit

On September 18, we were honored to welcome TCA District 11 leadership to campus for a conversation with our STCA club. Students had the opportunity to learn more about professional involvement, advocacy, and leadership within the field. Don’t forget, student membership in TCA is FREE, and I encourage you to take advantage of the many resources and networking opportunities available.

Designs for Health at TCC

Representatives from Designs for Health visited our campus on September 24 to present to our students. They shared some valuable insights into wellness solutions, functional lab testing methodologies, and real-world case studies. These are all important tools in preparing for future roles as healthcare professionals.

WDC’s UNconvention

From September 25-28, I had the pleasure of attending the WDC’s UNconvention, a convention uniquely designed to support and empower women chiropractors. It was an inspiring experience to learn from and connect with so many professionals in the chiropractic field. I had the opportunity to share my experience and engage in conversations with colleagues in different chiropractic sectors. I am excited to bring back perspectives that will shape the future of chiropractic education.

Pediatric Care Presentation

The next day, on September 25, the Pediatrics and Perinatal Club partnered with the Gonstead Club to host a special presentation on pediatric care. The session, led by Dr. Diljot Virdi, focused on the Gonstead System and provided valuable perspectives on caring for our youngest patients.

White Coat & Recognition Ceremony

TCC hosted yet another White Coat & Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, September 25. One of my favorite events of the year, this ceremony is a testament to the hard work of our Trimester 1,4, and 7 students. Congratulations to each and every one of you!

September was a month filled with events, and there is plenty more to look forward to in October, including one of our annual campus traditions. This year’s Trunk-or-Treat will be on Friday, October 24, from 4 – 6:30 pm at the Moody Health Center parking lot. Trunk-or-Treat is always a highlight of the fall semester, and I encourage all faculty, staff, and students to sign up to host a trunk and help make this year’s celebration bigger and better than ever. Click here for more information or to register.

Thank you all for continuing to make TCC such a vibrant campus. I look forward to seeing you around campus this month, and I hope to see many of you at Trunk-or-Treat.

Best regards,

Sandra Hughes, D.C., M.Ed., FICC
