Dear TCC Community,  

 

Welcome back to our campus for the Fall 2026 trimester. Each trimester gives us the chance to build upon our progress, recognize the accomplishments of our community, and remain focused on our mission of preparing the next generation of chiropractic professionals. 

 

Among the brand new additions to the next generation are our Summer 2026 graduates, whom I am proud to have watched cross the stage this August. As they begin the next chapter of their professional journeys, I look forward to seeing the impact they will make in their patients’ lives, their communities and across the chiropractic profession. Please take a moment to watch the livestream or view the photos from the ceremony and celebration. 

 

This fall, we have even more reason to celebrate. Texas Chiropractic College was recently named the 2026 Top Chiropractic School by Education Insider, a recognition that reflects the strength of our academic programs, the expertise and commitment of our faculty, and our continued dedication to preparing future leaders in chiropractic. This distinction belongs to our entire TCC community, and I am incredibly proud of the work being done each day to uphold and advance the legacy of our institution.  

 

As you read this edition of the President’s Newsletter, I invite you to celebrate the achievements, milestones, and moments that continue to shape TCC. From faculty scholarship and student success to new opportunities for growth and connection, we have much to be proud of and even more to look forward to as we continue the Fall trimester together. 

 

First Friday  

 

It was wonderful to see so many members of the TCC community come together for the Student Body Association’s First Friday event on September 11 to kick off the Fall trimester. Seeing our students, faculty, and staff reconnect, enjoy time together, and celebrate the start of a new term is always meaningful. Moments like these reflect the strong sense of community and connection that makes TCC so special. 

 

Faculty Recognition & Research 

 

It is with great pride that we recognize the achievements of our distinguished faculty, whose leadership, scholarship, and service continue to strengthen TCC and the chiropractic profession. 

 

Dr. Cheryl Hawk was honored for 50 years of service to chiropractic, recognizing her remarkable contributions to research, education, and evidence-informed practice. We also congratulate Dr. James Zuniga on his promotion from Attending Clinician to Associate Vice President of Enrollment and Dr. Osiel Pena on his promotion to Chairperson of Basic Sciences and Associate Professor. These milestones reflect their continued dedication and leadership within the College. 

 

TCC’s presence in chiropractic research and education also continues to grow beyond the college. Dr. Jeffrey Weiss was recognized by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners for serving as a subject matter expert on the Part II Test Development Committee. Dr. John Ward presented research on artificial intelligence at the Chiropractic Educators Research Forum Virtual Conference and has been selected to present at the World Federation of Chiropractic Global Education Conference this fall. Additionally, Dr. Patricia Moore and student Matthew McKay published an article, “Muscular dystrophy: review of pathological findings as seen in a cadaver and literature synopsis of complementary or alternative treatment modalities,” in the Journal of Contemporary Chiropractic, which you can read here. 

 

From professional milestones and leadership advancement to examination refinement and scholarly research, these accomplishments demonstrate the depth of expertise and dedication found throughout TCC. I am proud of the many ways our faculty continue to distinguish the College and contribute to the advancement of chiropractic education and the profession. 

 

TCA Awards 
 

I am delighted to share that this year, TCC was well-represented at the President’s Gala at Chiro Texpo held by the Texas Chiropractic Association. Students, alumni, and other supporters of TCC were presented a variety of awards for their roles in advancing TCA and chiropractic in Texas. Please view the list of recipients and join me in congratulating them on this well-deserved recognition. I am proud to work alongside these individuals as they continue to make a meaningful impact on the College and the chiropractic profession. 

 

Trunk-or-Treat 

 

On Friday, October 23 in the Moody Health Center parking lot, our Advancement & Alumni Engagement Department if hosting the annual Trunk-or-Treat which will be a FREE evening of Halloween fun for our local community and families, featuring a trunk decorating competition with prizes for the top 3 and treats for all who attend, rain or shine.

Postgraduate & Professional Education Opportunities 

 

On July 22-24, 2027, our Postgraduate & Professional Education Department will host ALIGNED 2027, Texas Chiropractic College’s annual convention, at the Margaritaville Lake Resort in Lake Conroe, which will bring together chiropractic professionals for three days of continuing education, professional development, and meaningful connection.

As we continue through the Fall 2026 trimester, I am grateful for the dedication each member of our TCC community brings to the College. The accomplishments shared in this newsletter are a reflection of the collective work taking place across our campus and beyond, from advancing chiropractic education and research to supporting our students as they prepare to serve their future patients and communities.
