Dr. Max Vige Receives William D. Harper Award at TCC’s 2025 Convention

TCC's William D. Harper Award Recipient 2025

Dr. Max Vige, a Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) alumnus and supporter, was awarded the William D. Harper Award, the college’s most prestigious award, at TCC’s annual chiropractic convention on the TCC campus in Pasadena, TX, on Friday, July 11, 2025. The award was presented by Dr. Sandra Hughes, current president of TCC, on behalf of last year’s award recipient, Dr. Lawson Howard.

“The way I was raised, I just always wanted to give back and make things better than when we found them,” said Dr. Vige during his speech. “My involvement with the chiropractic profession and me giving back to TCA and to our profession, fighting for it, and trying to advance it, that’s just part of what was instilled in me at a young age…It’s an honor.”

Dr. Max Vige, a 2002 graduate of Texas Chiropractic College, has made a lasting impact on the TCC community through his leadership, advocacy and dedication to the profession. A former TCA President and District 11 State Director on the TCA Board of Directors, he has mentored countless students and served as a strong representative of TCC in both state and national chiropractic associations. Last year, he was also honored with the prestigious Keeler Plaque, recognizing him as Texas’ Chiropractor of the Year.

“Dr. Max Vige has been a passionate advocate for the chiropractic profession from his time as a student at TCC through today as a private practitioner,” said current chair of TCC’s board of regents Dr. Dawn Schwab. “He has served in many leadership roles in the Texas Chiropractic Association, and worked tirelessly to further chiropractic through his legislative efforts at both the state and national levels.  He is deserving of this honor, and [I’m] glad the TCC Board of Regents could recognize Dr. Vige with this award.”

The William D. Harper Award, named after Dr. William D. Harper, Jr., a pioneer in the field of chiropractic, member of the TCC faculty for 15 years, and TCC president from 1965 to 1976, honors individuals who exemplify dedication to the college and embrace the role of science in chiropractic care. Each year, the college board members vote on the recipient, who is then presented to the current recipient by the previous year’s recipient.
